Between his creaking sunroof, leaking oil pan, botched fix, incompetent local dealer, still-leaking oil pan, and squeaking something-or-other, I think we should help out our fellow Oppo with the car-shopping he will be doing after VW buys back his GTI.
Here’s what we know: He seems to like small fun thingie-do-bingies. He got rid of his FiST because is was moderately unreliable for him and he didn’t like the build quality... well, the GTI seems to be much worse already, so I’m going for chalk on this one:
Small, fun, and reliable. 181 HP on the 2019, notbad.png
What say thee?

I’ve driven an ND, didn’t enjoy it.

He’s had bad luck with usually reliable cars, so it’s time to change gears and assume he’ll have good luck with a usually unreliable car.

I like the way you think.

Another MK7, because they are generally decently reliable. His seems like a bad car/dealer. Sorry had to be that guy!

At first glance I though I was getting called out because I am Jordan and have a red ND.
Not about me, phew.

It’s really too bad Hyundai isn’t bringing the i30N here, but I’ll submit the upcoming Veloster N in its place.

Hell no.

If it’s bought back, that’s what would replace it. I love the car.

My 17 & my friends GTI/R’s have fortunately treated us well. I hope you can get it corrected, they are lovely cars.

Bad luck with newer small sporty cars? So let’s change that with an old large luxo barge! It’s even FWD!

That was my suggestion. Or even the garden variety Veloster, actually.

Everybody I know with one has not had problems with it. The Fiesta was half and half, half were reliable, half were garbage.

This will be a good Fit, and you know it’s the OPPO car of the year 2019

It somehow felt slower than it actually is. Granted it was an auto RF, but I just didn’t enjoy it.

I still can’t think of a better car for me. Happily my GTI is doing fine at 40k miles.

My friend swapped his B5 S4 wagon for a 2nd gen 4runner and the audi was far more reliable.

Definitely w orth sampling the manual at some point.

I also hate convertibles with a passion, and the idea of the RF makes me angry. They could have just made the fixed roof coupe, but they decided to make it complex and heavier instead.
![]() 01/10/2019 at 12:13 |

I f I ever bought an ND, it’d be a soft top, mostly just because there’s no good solution for putting a roll bar in the RF.
